FAQs about in-home nursing for aged care needs

Home nursing care provides support for people with diverse health needs. Whether you need help managing medications, caring for wounds, or monitoring chronic conditions, nursing services can offer the assistance you require in the comfort of your own home.

To provide nursing care at home​, a person will need a current nursing registration with AHPRA and one or more years of experience.

Self-management means you have choice and control over your home care nursing. So if you’d like to continue receiving services from a specific nurse or care provider, we will work with you to add them to our approved network.

Please note that your nurse or care provider will need an ABN, a police check, relevant qualifications and insurance to onboard with HomeMade.

In order to access home nursing and care through Support at Home funding, you will need to complete an aged care assessment that establishes your needs. If assessed as eligible, you can sign up to HomeMade and, if approved, start self-managing your funding.

In-home nursing care is designed for individuals who need assistance with medical and health-related conditions. Whereas personal care services support those who require help with hygiene-related tasks such as bathing, showering, and toileting.
