In this guide:

Mable, which is part of the same group as HomeMade, enables you to find suitable independent support workers.

Reminder: You must only use Mable for services in line with your care plan and budget.

Steps to finding support workers through Mable

  1. Check what services you can use your funding for in your care plan
  2. Confirm what your budget is
  3. Create a free Mable profile
  4. Post a job
  5. Review the job applications
  6. Connect with your preferred workers
  7. Discuss and agree on job details, timing and rates
  8. Book the session

What to include in a job post

  • A bit about yourself: If you can, include details such as age, gender, and personality.
  • Date and time of the job: The more specific you are about when you need support, the clearer the job post will be.
  • Job location: Include where the support will take place, and if you will need to be picked up and taken somewhere for support.
  • Whether the job is ongoing or a one-off: It is helpful for support workers to understand from your job post whether you need them for a one-off support session or for long-term support.
  • Your goals: This will help the support worker understand the qualifications and skills they might need.
  • Specific skills, interests, or qualifications: Specify what is important to you, such as languages spoken or a shared interest.
  • Car and driver’s licence: Be sure to mention whether you need a support worker to drive you to where you need to go.
  • Must-haves or nice-to-haves: Specifying these in your job post makes sure the support worker knows what’s non-negotiable for you in terms of your support needs.
